On March 12, 2003, Intel Corporation introduced Intel Centrino mobile technology, bringing new capabilities for wireless mobile PCs and granting consumers greater freedom to connect in new places and in new ways. Using the Intel Centrino Mobile Technology notebook PC, a business traveler can check office e-mail or read a newspaper online while waiting for a flight at the airport and still have enough battery life left to watch a DVD movie on the airplane trip.
Technion power is behind this new technology. Most of the Centrino mobile technology components and all related products were conceived and developed in Intel Israel Developments Centers in Haifa and Yaqum, where most of the engineers are Technion-trained. The Intel revolution in mobile technology is led by Electrical Engineering graduates.
A group of several hundred engineers worked on the Intel Centrino mobile technology for three years. The Centrino notebook PCs has been aggressively marketed around the world in a $300 million advertising campaign. |
